What we have done
- The whole site can be operated with a keyboard alone, and a visible focus outline shows where you are.
- Every page starts with a “Skip to content” link so keyboard and screen-reader users can jump past the navigation.
- Headings, landmarks, lists and form labels are marked up so screen readers announce the page in a sensible order.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Text and background colours were chosen to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for body text.
- The layout reflows down to 320px wide and up to 200% zoom without losing content or requiring sideways scrolling.
- Videos never start with sound, and moving content stops for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion.
- The site works in both English and Arabic, with the whole layout mirrored for right-to-left reading.
The accessibility menu
- The accessibility button in the corner of every page opens a menu where you can enlarge the text, raise the contrast, invert the colours, drop to grayscale, widen letter and line spacing, highlight every link, enlarge the mouse cursor, switch to a plainer typeface and stop all animation.
- Your choices are remembered in your own browser and applied again the next time you visit. They are never sent to us and never shared.
- “Reset all settings” returns the page to how it started.
Where we fall short
- Course videos are hosted by Bunny Stream or Vimeo, and reels are embedded from Instagram. We do not control those players, and their accessibility is the responsibility of those services.
- Subtitles are available on course lessons in English and Arabic. Older lessons may not yet be subtitled; tell us which lesson you need and we will prioritise it.
- Some documents attached to older posts may not be fully tagged. Ask us and we will send you an accessible version.
